KMC to conduct city-wide tree health inspection and 'treatment' program
Tension erupted in Salt Lake on Wednesday afternoon after a protest march against the alleged SSC recruitment scam was stopped by police. A large number of job aspirants had assembled at Karunamoyee to march towards the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) Bhawan. The police intercepted the march near the SSC office by setting up barricades, preventing the demonstrators from proceeding further.
The protesters raised three primary demands: immediate publication of a certified list of assistant teachers on the SSC’s official website, dismissal of ineligible candidates as per Article 45 of the court's order, and reinstatement of eligible candidates who were denied appointments. Demonstrators stated that their agitation will continue until their demands are met.
Heavy police presence was deployed across the Karunamoyee and SSC Bhawan areas to maintain law and order. While the situation remained tense throughout the afternoon, no physical confrontation or reported injuries occurred during the protest. The protesters remained gathered near the barricaded area, continuing their demonstration.
